Adobe's acquisition of Allegorithmic means that the Substance tools are coming soon to a Creative Cloud near you. Allegorithmic says that they're honoring the current subscriptions and licenses so that's really good for current users. But we're still waiting on details of how exactly the integration will work. Will they still offer perpetual licenses?

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the move. I mean, this is great news for studios who are already subscribed to the cloud and Substance. This potentially consolidates their fees into one. I just don't know.

Anyway, here are my thoughts and a very primitive explanation of what Substance can do.

Certainly, the $650 price tag puts the "budget friendly" Wacom Cintiq 16 out of the affordability range for me and most of my friends, but that's not my biggest problem.

The only way I'll ever get to try one is if I buy one outright or have a friend who has one. This really sucks for digital artists. So I propose a sort of workshop/demo day where tablet companies bring their gear and we all get to try them out!

At the end of last year, I designed a team of Disney Princesses as Power Rangers calling them Regal Sentai Princess Rangers. I did all the princesses that appeared in Ralph Breaks the Internet along with Kida from Atlantis who always seems to get left out. So now it's time to design the villains!

Maleficent is up first. I think this is gonna be a multiple part series. This is just the sketching phase.

You can find my other Regal Sentai Princess Rangers over on my instagram:
