A New Leaf [Comic]

People can change.  We’ll just have to see if Steve is one of them.

THANK YOU BLACK CAT

Gigantic sloppy thank you’s for everyone who came out to our Black Cat show Friday night!  I can’t believe we sold that fucker out on our first outing.  Also, thank you to everyone who called them up after tickets sold out.  They were really impressed with the response.  I can almost guarantee that we’ll be back sometime in the future to melt DC faces!

BACK ON TOUR IN APRIL

Not much going in March which is nice.  We will be art fighting March 30 at our home base, the Ottobar, in Baltimore.  Tickets are on sale now so get them while they’re hot!

I’ll be hitting up a bunch of places in April.  April 6-7, I’ll be heading up to Pennsylvania for my first Super Show!  April 20-21, the first ever Awesome Con will be held in DC.  We’re going to help kick things off with some art fight goodness.  Finally, I’ll be heading out to Chicago April 26-28 for C2E2!  I had a chance to check that show out as an attendee last year so I’m excited to check it out as a vendor.  The Digital Pimp gang is letting me squat with them so find us at booth #208!  Fucking love Chicago.

MOUSE OVER

Steve is a leaf on a pile.  Watch how he shovels.

PANEL 1

Kane shovels food into his face as Ally and Bodie ponder.

ALLY

Do you think Steve's really turned over a new leaf?

BODIE

Oh, I have no doubt that he's thankful. But I don't think he's changed.

PANEL 2

Close up on Bodie who is frustrated.

BODIE

He's still in a high level position lording over people who are probably more talented than him. Still has that infuriating non-smile smile.

PANEL 3

Kane excitedly gestures.

KANE

Well, one thing's different.  Now, he’s LITERALLY a shit shoveller!

  • Rex

This is a weird one. Hate him for his personality, sure- but Is it really fair to slam a guy because he took up business management rather than graphic design?

You’re going to be at C2E2?! I’m so there! I should start planning now.

  • Slither7

The issue isn’t his chosen career path: It’s the way he handles his job, and the people underneath him. The 3 mains here still see him as the slimy boss who treated them horridly, and suspect he’s doing the same to the new people he’s the boss of. Has nothing to do with his job, really.

  • Rex

I dunno man. That might be the intention- but it kinda comes over as general bitterness towards management at large- “high level position” “-over people probably more talented than him.”…

  • Flakes

I imagine it’s a common sentiment in jobs requiring creative output. Strong attachment to your work does not mesh well with strict management.
