Out From The Darkness

By no means do I wish to imply that all it takes to get over alcohol is a good dose of video games. Also, an argument could be made that video games can be just as addictive. But this works for Lance, at least for now. It’s not the end of his road, to be sure.

Alright, I’ll be away all of next week so you all be nice to each other while I’m gone. The comics will flow and if I’m really clever, there may be posts on Tuesday and Thursday. See y’all when I get back.

I think she would have preferred he go out and be around people heh. But, a game is an improvement over alcohol. And it’s not like he vegetates instead of exercise.

    That ^
I think he just realized this isn’t what she would have wanted, and will try to go on without needless pain amplification. Because that’s what these things do – first dull the hurt but then it comes back twice as strong.

I’m a bit confused, why you would think such a clarification necessary. To me, it seemed obvious that Lance takes comfort in his memories of Miss Jessy and the fact, that she wouldn’tve wanted him to be sad. So he chooses to try not to be. First time commenting to say that I love your art and the stories a lot!

Neurochemically speaking, video games are second best at setting off the addictive pathways in our brains, with chemicals being the first best. So, odd as it may seem, the epinephrine, norepinephrine, and serotonin released upon making a game achievement can be an excellent way to fight the urge to pick up a bottle or needle.

So playing video games is better than alcohol? I doubt it.

Did you turn his eyes into pools of liquid darkness for the third panel? That’s pretty metal, even if I’m not quite sure why.
