I gotta ask, why has it taken this long for the RZA to come out with his own kung fu movie?

What’s really impressive is the multi-ethnic cast he’s assembled. This film is supposed to take place in ancient China, yet we’ve got a whole mess of non-Chinese running around and kicking the shit out of things. You don’t really see that in a lot of kung fu flicks. It looks like it’s going to be hysterically fun. I’ll be interested to see if we get cameos from the rest of the Clan as their alter egos. You know the GZA is just born to play a wise old monk who teaches someone to use the Liquid Swords. The Man With Iron Fists drops in December.

Sweet, this does look good. And I like the high production values. But asside from Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu I don’t know anyone one else in the film. :-/

But that is not bad since I think will enjoy this movie more not knowing how good it will be going in.. Unless it gets hyped up in october and november… and then I could loose intrest.

Speaking of interesting multi-ethnic wuxia movies, have you seen Jade Warrior?

Finnish/Chinese co-production, based loosely on Finnish mythology, with large portions set in China. It was surprisingly good.

It doesn’t look particularly “ancient” to me. It looks more like a steampunk-ish Sci-Fi/Fantasy version of the 1870s or 1880s.

I think I actually have seen that movie! I think it was a random Netflix thing that I stumbled upon. Really entertaining.
