The True Meaning Of “Meeting”

It is a rare thing indeed to attend a meeting that is not, in fact, a giant fucking waste of time. I can count on one hand the number of meetings that I’ve been to that actually accomplished anything. And I’d still have fingers left over. Meetings that last for more than a hour are doubly fucking useless.

Heh…. it’s funny, I enjoy my work’s “meetings.” That’s because we only have one every couple weeks, and it’s gives me an hour not to think too hard… until it’s my turn to give my updates on what I’m doing and such. Eventually by the end of the meeting we all get off topic and talk about something else completely random…. so… good times.

I’ve never heard the words “good times” and “meeting” in the same sentence before. Are you sure you’re not really going to a pub?

I’m the one who calls meetings. I hate extended meetings that involve discussions and tangents, so I have my schedule. I stick to it and I move on.

Typical meetings are like blanket orders for dummies. It’s a reason to call in the slow workers and find out why they’re slow, and reassign them and reiterate what needs to be done. Good workers know what they have to do, what additional work they can do to be ahead of the game, and give regular updates.

I think if people spent more time working and getting their tasks completed and starting on new tasks without having to be prompted, meetings wouldn’t be so long.

Woah. @Drezz That’s just….perfect. I wish other people who set meetings thought like that. Gaw….

Well I used to be a grunt worker, so I understand what it’s like.
